Dinnertide

Your information

The short version: we keep what's needed to plan your household's meals, and nothing is sold or used for ads. Last updated October 22, 2026.

What we keep

  • Your name and email address, and your profile picture if you sign in with Google.
  • Your food profile: allergies, diets, foods you love or avoid, spice level, cooking skill and time, and a daily calorie target if you set one.
  • Your household’s schedule, who’s eating each meal, meal plans, grocery lists, recipes, ratings and notes, equipment and budget.
  • Messages you send us with Send feedback. The person who runs Dinnertide reads them and may reply to you by email.
  • How many AI requests your household makes, so we can keep costs in check and apply your plan’s limits.
  • If you join the waitlist while the beta is full, just your email, used only to tell you when there’s room. Ask us and we’ll remove it.
  • If you turn on notifications, the address your browser gives us to deliver them and your time zone, so reminders arrive in the afternoon where you are.
  • When you last opened Dinnertide, so we only plan ahead for households that are using it, and when you agreed to these terms.

Your health information

Allergies, diets (some of which reflect religious practice) and calorie targets count as health information under some US state laws, such as Washington’s My Health My Data Act. We collect them only from you, only with your consent, and only to plan safe meals for your household.

They’re shared with the people in your household and, without your name, with our AI provider to write recipes. Our hosting providers store them for us. We never sell them or use them for ads. You can change or clear them any time in Settings, download them, or delete your account to remove them for good.

Who sees it

People in your household see your household’s plans, lists and recipes, and each member’s name with their allergies and diets, because meals are planned around everyone.

If you share a recipe to Community, every signed-in Dinnertide user can see it with your first name. Recipes imported from a website share only the title, ingredients and a link to the original. You can un-share at any time.

Services we use

  • Anthropic (Claude) writes meal plans and reads imported recipe pages. We send your household’s combined allergies, diets and preferences, counts of how many people avoid something, and anything you type as a special request, but never names or email addresses. Anthropic’s commercial terms don’t allow it to train its models on what we send.
  • Supabase stores the data and handles sign-in, in the United States.
  • Vercel runs the website.
  • Sentry tells us when something breaks: the error, the page and your browser type. It never receives your name, email, allergies, recipes or what you typed.
  • Google signs you in, if you choose Sign in with Google.
  • Unsplash supplies stock photos for AI-written recipes. We send it only dish names, like “lemon herb chicken”; the photos then load from Unsplash.
  • Your browser’s notification service (Google, Apple or Mozilla) delivers notifications if you turn them on. In the iPhone and Android apps, Apple’s and Google’s (Firebase) notification services do. They get a device code and the notification’s text, like “Your plan for the week is ready.”
  • Recipe photos load straight from the website the recipe came from, so that site can see your IP address, as with any web page. We don’t send it anything else.

Cookies

No ads, no selling or renting your information, and no tracking cookies. We use two cookies: one keeps you signed in, and one remembers your time zone so dates show correctly.

How long we keep it

Your information stays while you have an account. When you delete your account, your name, email, food profile, ratings, feedback and devices are deleted straight away. A household you share passes to another member, and recipes you shared to Community stay without your name. Error reports in Sentry are deleted after about 30 days. Our providers’ backups are overwritten on their regular schedule.

Your choices

  • See and change your information in Settings.
  • Download my data in Settings gives you a copy of everything we keep about you and your household.
  • Delete my account in Settings removes it for good.
  • Turn notifications off in Settings or in your browser.

Allergies

Every recipe is checked against your household’s allergies and diets, but recipes are written by AI and Dinnertide can’t know everything in a packaged product. Always read the labels, and don’t rely on Dinnertide for severe allergies.

Children

Dinnertide is for people 13 and older. Households can include children in their servings without giving them an account. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we’ll delete the account.

Where Dinnertide works

Dinnertide is a small, independent app in a private beta for people in the United States. Your information is stored and processed in the United States.

Changes and questions

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll ask you to agree again the next time you open Dinnertide. For questions or requests about your information, use Send feedback in Settings (a person reads every message).
